Garcia said “We were great for seconds on end.” I was lucky to see Jerry play for about 1,000,000 seconds exactly. Thanks for your 1,000,000 views here . Dave Davis wrote this blog for 500 posts and 5 years from 2015 to 2019. Contact me at twitter @gratefulseconds

Corn-fed Dead: I Think U of Iowa Paid $2,500 to Book The Dead on March 20, 1971

There is something in the malted corn in Iowa since the Dead always seem to play good there (think http://www.gratefulseconds.com/2016/05/a-tale-of-two-playgrounds-grateful-dead.html  in 1973 and 1974), the August 1982 show etc.

Here you find that heavily strategic touring group lead by the master tour organizer Sam Cutler play every college they can in March and April 1971 before winding up in NYC for the closing Fillmore East shows.  While many might discount March due to the limited setlists and shorter shows, you might want to listen to this one (listen here) as the band is on tonight.

Fun reads this time mainly from the Daily Iowan
