July 1990: The Last Month of Brent Mydland

From April 22, 1979 to July 23, 1990, it was Brent's turn to rock the keyboards.  But Brent was much more than the piano man for the Dead.  He added this punch that was needed as Jerry's demons were becoming more visible.  Weir invited him into songslike Little Red Rooster.  Some of his tunes moved into set closing slots.  Deadheads loved this dude.  And on top of that, within six months of joining the group, Brent was fucking awesome on thr boards at shows I saw like Cape Cod 10-27-1979.This post gives you a flavor of where the Dead was at as the Summer tour ended
